EXODUS -- Fleeing Fascism, but where to?

American EXODUS

I've reached a point where I can no longer stand being an American, knowing that:

1. Both Republicans and Democrats are corrupt and will not stop the illegal war in Iraq.
2. My taxes are used to spew DU (depleted Uranium) in the cradle of civilization as well as other illegal weapons like white phosphorus (aka "Whiskey Pete")
3. The election system is rigged, so it will be virtually impossible to return the USA to a democracy.
4. There is no free press left to report on these truths.
5. And so much more, there just isn't space here.

I would like to know if there is a country I could go where:

1. There is little or no Military Industrial Complex.
2. Real democracy is practices (parliamentary, not two-party) and elections are transparent, not rigged, and run without electronic voting machines.
3. There is high quality Universal Health Care.
4. A few acres can be purchased for a modest price.
5. Low-cost High speed (fiber preferred) internet access is available.
6. Immigration is possible/affordable.
7. Human rights, free speech, etc are guaranteed by the government.
8. There is a large enough English-speaking population that I could find work and access everything I need without having to learn a new language.
9. Building codes, permits and regulations would present NO problem for me to build an earthship home (rammed earth in used tires, see earthship.org).

I'm hoping that the far-flung Omidyar community will have the collective knowledge to help me make an intelligent choice.

In the U.S., we used to say "It's a free country". I haven't heard that one in awhile. What's your best candidate country for true freedom? What's your experience with it? Are you another U.S. resident considering emigrating?
